Purchases
Freight, duty and landed costs
Add shipping and other charges to a purchase order so each product's cost includes them.
A product's landed cost is what it really cost to get it on your shelf. It's the supplier's price plus a share of freight, duty and other charges.
Add a Service product for each kind of charge, such as Freight, Customs duty and Insurance. See Add a product.
On the purchase order, use Additional Costs. Search for the service and enter the amount. Add a description if it helps, such as the courier's invoice number.
Go to Settings → Purchases → Landing Cost Allocation Method:
Method How it shares charges Best for By Value In proportion to each line's value. Insurance and duty. By Quantity Equally per unit. Per-unit handling. When you receive the order, each product's cost includes its share. Each line shows its Landed / unit cost, and the product's last and average cost are updated.
